The UAE online market is very much in it’s infancy compared to other parts of the world. Internet penetration is extremely high in this region and 33% of Gulf consumers use the Internet to research products and purchase goods.
Trust is key to the success in Europe and America. The consumer is comfortable paying for goods online with PayPal & Credit cards. However the Middle East still prefers the COD (cash on delivery) route.
The ability to be able to find what you are looking for quickly and efficiently is key to a high conversion rate and a low bounce rate (People clicking off after landing onto the site). Online retail offers higher margins than standard retail, it also offers better value for money.
A good website will allow you to educate your consumer quicker on the USP of the product. You can reward and incentivise future purchases as well as producing analytics and ROI. The site will collect data and most importantly build you a database of active purchases.
It will also give you the ability to stay ahead of the curve through data and search trends this will benefit also your in store retail and offline marketing communications.
“The estimated number of E-commerce users in Middle East is 90 million”
How to build a community or loyal customers
To enable the website to achieve the required KPI’s of a strong database of subscribers having a good inbound marketing and sales software would be critical.
“Companies that use inbound marketing tools generate 54% more leads!!”
We always recommend using Hubspot as the software to achieve this. Why? It is the market leader with over 15’000 companies already using the service in 90 different countries. It offers everything required to grow your online business with a range of powerful tools that are easy to use.
These tools will help Incentivise people searching for specific products to purchase, providing them with quality content. Sites should always have clear call to actions.
It’s also important to remember that consumers are now tech & brand savvy and building brand ambassadors is important. Consumers are far more likely to purchase a product based on recommendation of a friend than off a celebrity on a billboard endorsement. Social media is a key driver in this process and you only have to look at Trip Advisor to see the effects of positive or negative feedback on business or brand.
Having the ability to show hot products that consumer’s like/rate or trust highly builds trust and helps in the purchasing decision. The ability for consumers to find what they are looking for quickly and easily will be key to your sites success additional filters will be an important element too.
Be more than just a website!
Inspire and educate the consumer, show the benefits of your products and use your customers as brand ambassadors.

With the mobile market being set to take over console gaming it’s a perfect opportunity for brands to use this to their advantage.
“It’s a very interesting area,” says Paul Wishman, group ecommerce director at insurance firm LV=, which launched a mobile game alongside its first TV ad for home insurance last year.
“Gamification is a great way of amplifying the brand and our new campaign,” he says. “It complements the above-the-line activity so seemed like the perfect opportunity to do something new.”
In December 2014 Amplify created 2 games for a client in Dubai. The first game featured an Eagle flying through the desert, the user had to use their body to control the movements of the bird e.g. leaning to the right or left or forwards or backwards. Their movements were tracked using a connect sensor camera, the aim of the games was to collect as many coins as they could within the time. The player could also collect hearts to increase their time and game play. Upon completing the game the user received a score dependant on how many coins had been collected. They could then share their experience through social media and see how they ranked on the leader board. The game featured the company branding and logo designs promoting awareness of the brand. The second game was based around a clay pigeon shooting experience again the consumer used their movement to control play and at the end were able to post results on social media sites.
The games were a huge success and a great way of interacting with consumers and promoting brand engagement. The games also give consumers a new and different experience especially if the brand lacks fun and interest. The games were set up on large screens, however could be adapted for mobile gaming. We have also created an educational game for Aquafresh which educated children on the importance of brushing their teeth but in a fun and enjoyable way.
A Strategic Marketing Plan keeps your company marketing efforts consistent with the business goals and objectives
An in-depth marketing plan will help your company determine what jobs need to be done and what should be ignored. This will keep your team focused on work that matters—work that enables your company’s goals and objectives to be achieved
A plan keeps your marketing efforts proactive
There’s always new technology, new marketing platforms or a new opportunity which we are always keen to respond to. When you’re constantly reacting to outside forces you’re not in control. So rather than being pushed and pulled in all directions, a plan will protect your business against that trap. A plan will detail your strategies, it will create the path to achieve those strategies and will define the things you need to do to win.
A sound plan makes it easy to evaluate new opportunities
The world around us is always changing so we can assume that new opportunities will present themselves from time to time. It might be a new way of advertising or as big as a new market opening. How do you know if these opportunities are good for you? A plan will prove priceless in these circumstances as it will give you the criteria to evaluate them and determine if they make sense for your company
A marketing plan facilitates measurement
A plan gives you a framework to measure your efforts. One of the great things about all the newer tactics we have at our disposal is they are easily measurable. We can see web site traffic, banner ad clicks, number of followers and email click-throughs. But, all that data on its own does not mean a whole lot. A plan gives you the ability to evaluate all the data and determine if your efforts are moving you towards your corporate goals.
There are many more reasons to develop a marketing plan. The value of a sound strategic marketing plan far outweighs any investment you make to create one and the benefits will last for years.
If you don’t have a strategic marketing plan and would like some further information on marketing strategies, get in touch! We offer a free consultation service and we are sure you will be amazed by our ideas, thoughts and solutions.
